It's been a while since I last updated my blog. Things had been pretty hectic due to workloads at the university. Well, the last chapter of my undergraduate life has come to a necessary closure but there is so much more. At the expense of a working life where majority of my friends love to indulge in, I'm now furthering my studies. I find it a necessity and I must say not many will agree. It's fascinating to see there are so many choices one can make after getting a basic degree, yet many claim the best to the choice they make. It makes them all the best, isn't it? Why bother about the choices made by others when the most important choice is to be made by you? There's so much crap here in the first paragraph but it's important as an introduction.
So much to be said about the life I had at Sultan Idris Education University for the past four years and to sum it up, I got it through pretty well both in academic and co-curriculum. In fact, I was named to be the next recipient of a prestigious book prize which is named after a former vice-chancellor, during the university's 16th convocation. I lost for words the moment I was informed of the book prize. All the effort pays!
The Welcoming Ceremony for New Postgraduate Candidates 2014/2015 at University of Malaya (UM) held on the 29th of August 2014 has provided much insight into what is required of a postgraduate student. I must say, much information was provided to us during the faculty briefing. The lecturers and staff were so friendly and helpful. They're just so open for discussion and questions by us. All necessary information was provided to ensure all the candidates complete their studies within the minimum semesters allowed by the university to which they call it- Graduate On Time (GOT). A party will be held to celebrate the GOT students.
All good things have been said and the harsh reality is approaching. The first lecture for the first semester will commence on the 8th of September 2014 and there're so many things to be done right from searching for suitable reading materials to getting prepared mentally for the arduous journey of completing a postgraduate degree. When it comes to writing a dissertation, it's going to be a lonely journey.
More will be shared in due course. In my forthcoming entries, my main subject of discussion will mainly focus on the field of Applied Linguistics where the sub-category discussed will be the English language.
